Stuart Skelton made his Seattle Opera debut as Siegmund in 2009. He has also sung the role at the Metropolitan Opera, Paris Opera, and in Adelaide, Zürich, and Hamburg. His other Wagner roles include Parsifal, Lohengrin, Rienzi, and Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer. Recent performances include the title role of Peter Grimes at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, Opera de Oviedo, and at the BBC Proms; Lohengrin at the Dresden Semperoper; and Parsifal at the Zürich Opera. Other roles include Florestan in Fidelio, the Emperor in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos, Laca in Jenufa, Samson in Samson et Dalila, and Canio in Pagliacci. Skelton has performed in Berlin, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Munich, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Vienna, and throughout his native Australia. Future plans include Fidelio and Peter Grimes at the English National Opera, Siegmund at Opera Australia, and concert performances of Peter Grimes with both the San Francisco Symphony and London Philharmonic, as well as concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and BBC Symphony.
