Polish soprano Aleksandra Kurzak makes her Seattle Opera debut as Lucia. Her roles at the Metropolitan Opera include Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Olympia in Offenbach’s Contes d’Hoffmann, and Blonde in Mozart’s Entführung aus dem Serail. As an ensemble member of the Hamburg State Opera, she performed several roles, including Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Adele in Johann Strauss Jr.’s Fledermaus, and Musetta in Puccini’s Bohème. Kurzak’s appearances at Royal Opera Covent Garden include Aspasia in Mozart’s Mitridate, re di Ponto, Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and Adina in Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore. Recent performances include Donna Fiorilla in Rossini’s Turco in Italia in Munich, Amenaide in Rossini’s Tancredi and Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Vienna, and Gilda in Hamburg. She has also been seen at Berlin Staatsoper, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Welsh National Opera, Teatro Regio in Parma, and Teatro Massimo in Palermo, among others. Upcoming, she sings Donna Fiorilla at Royal Opera, Donna Anna at Teatro la Fenice in Venice, and Violetta in Verdi’s Traviata in Warsaw.
