Archie Drake has appeared at least once each season with Seattle Opera since 1968. Since making his debut with the company n Beethoven’s Fidelio, this English-born singer’s roles here included Candy in the world premiere of Floyd’s Of Mice and Men and Prince Bolkonsky in Prokofiev’s War and Peace. His final roles with the company included Jed in the world premiere of the final version of Marvin David Levy’s Mourning Becomes Electra, Luther in Offenbach’s Contes d’Hoffmann, and the Doctor in Verdi’s Macbeth.
