Bio

Benjamin Smith has led nine new productions since 1999, ranging from Cavalli’s Egisto to Conrad Susa’s Dangerous Liaisons. Smith has directed for Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh, Intermountain Opera Association, Pittsburgh Opera’s resident artists program, University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, Baldwin-Wallace College, and the Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca. Smith is the resident assistant director at Seattle Opera, and has also served as assistant director for Washington National Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Pittsburgh Opera, and the Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh.
