As Vancouver Opera’s resident costume design consultant for the past four seasons, Christine Reimer has designed principals’ costumes for Mozart’s Zauberflöte, Donizetti’s Fille du régiment, Wagner’s Fliegende Holländer, Verdi’s Aida, and Bizet’s Carmen. She also has created costumes and sets for the Vancouver Opera Touring Ensemble’s productions of Rossini’s Cenerentola, Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!, and (on tour currently) Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. Other recent opera credits include designing sets for Sullivan’s Mikado at Anchorage Opera. Reimer also has worked as a painter/dyer and as assistant designer at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and Banff Centre for the Arts. Upcoming design projects include principals’ costumes for Richard Strauss’s Rosenkavalier at Vancouver Opera, costumes for Storyeum in Vancouver’s Historic Gastown, and costumes for Funny Girl at Vancouver’s Family Theatre.
