Dimitri Pittas makes his Seattle Opera debut as Alfredo Germont in Verdi’s Traviata, a role he has performed at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Opéra de Montréal, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. Recent engagements for this American tenor include Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth in Munich and Nemorino in Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore at the Metropolitan Opera, Welsh National Opera, and Santa Fe Opera. Pittas, a graduate of the Met’s Lindemann Young Artists Development Program, made his debut with the company in Verdi’s Don Carlos, and has also appeared as Macduff, Arturo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and Tamino in Mozart’s Zauberflöte. Other roles include Tybalt in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff, Tom Rakewell in Stravinsky’s Rake’s Progress, and Narraboth in Strauss’s Salome at Saito Kinen Festival in Japan. This season, Pittas performs as Macduff in Vienna, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor in Frankfurt, Rodolfo in Puccini’s Bohème in Dresden, and he will perform Verdi’s Requiem with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
