Eglise Gutiérrez made her Seattle Opera debut in 2008 as Elvira in Bellini’s Puritani, and returns to the company as Violetta in Verdi’s Traviata. Last season she made her debut as Lucia in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at Opera de Montreal and as Elvira with the Greek National Opera in Athens. In August she sang Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Ravinia Festival, and last month she made her debut at Royal Opera Covent Garden in the title role of Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix. Upcoming engagements include her debuts as Gilda in Dresden and Elvira at Teatro Real in Madrid. She will sing Lucia at Florida Grand Opera and returns to Covent Garden as La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Gilda, and Amina in Bellini’s Sonnambula. Gutiérrez has performed at Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Santa Fe Opera, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Michigan Opera Theatre, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and Finland’s Savonlinna Opera Festival, where she was voted 2009 Artist of the Year. She has appeared at the Aspen Music Festival and at Carnegie Hall. Other roles include Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, Liù in Puccini’s Turandot, Adina in Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore , and the title role in Roig’s Cecilia Valdés.
