Elena Zelenskaya


Russian soprano Elena Zelenskaya made her Seattle Opera debut as Lady Macbeth, a role she has also sung in Athens, Bergen, Cologne, Lucerne, Tel Aviv, and St. Paul, Minnesota. A Bolshoi Theatre principal artist, Zelenskaya’s many roles in Moscow include the Countess in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro, Lisa in Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades, Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, and Leonora in Verdi’s Trovatore. Other performances abroad include Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco with Greek National Opera and New Israeli Opera, Odabella in Verdi’s Attila at Teatro la Fenice, Leonora in Verdi’s Forza del destino at Royal Danish Opera and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, the title role in Verdi’s Aida for Deutsche Oper Berlin and San Diego Opera, Elisabetta in Verdi’s Don Carlos at Oper Köln, the title role of Puccini’s Tosca for Scottish Opera and La Monnaie, and Mimì in Puccini’s Bohème for Gran Teatre del Liceu. Zelenskaya’s U.S. engagements include Britten’s War Requiem with Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gorislava in Glinka’s Ruslan and Ludmila at Carnegie Hall, and both Amelia in Verdi’s Ballo in maschera and Leonora in La forza del destino at the Metropolitan Opera.
