Karen Vuong, an inaugural member and two-year participant in the Los Angeles Opera’s Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program,won the 2006 Operalia International Competition in Valencia, Spain. Her performances with LA Opera include the Voice of Shepherd Boy in Wagner’s Tannhäuser, Lady of Mahagonny in Weill’s Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, and in Zemlinsky’s Dwarf. Vuong also sang Mimì in LA Opera’s student production of Puccini’s Bohème and Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen at the Hollywood Bowl. In 2008 she debuted at the Kentucky Opera as Sophie in Massenet’s Werther. She makes her Seattle Opera debut as Trang/Nurse in Daron Aric Hagen’s Amelia.
