Kevin Langan has been a leading bass with San Francisco Opera for twenty-one seasons; his many roles there include Sarastro in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, Enrico VIII in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, Colline in Puccini’s Bohème, and Timur in Puccini’s Turandot. He made his Seattle Opera debut as Sparafucile in Verdi’s Rigoletto in 1988, returning to sing it again in 1995. Other roles with Seattle Opera include Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Rocco in Beethoven’s Fidelio, Oroveso in Bellini’s Norma, Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and Pimen in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov. At the Metropolitan Opera, Langan has sung Basilio in Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia and Colline. His New York City Opera roles include Leporello and Sparafucile as well as Henry Mosher in Picker’s Emmeline, which Langan also sang at Santa Fe Opera for its world premiere. Other credits for this singer include the role of General Ezra Mannon in Levy’s Mourning Becomes Electra at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
