After completing his studies at Jullliard, Luiz-Ottavio Faria won many national and international competitions. He made his opera debut as Tommaso in Verdi’s Ballo in maschera at Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. Since then, Faria has sung for opera companies in Portugal, Germany, Austria, United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and Latin America. His many credits include Oroveso in Bellini’s Norma in Quebec, Banquo in Verdi’s Macbeth in São Paulo, and Timur in Puccini’s Turandot in Rio de Janeiro. Other Verdi roles in his repertoire include Ramfis and King in Aida, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, and Ferrando in Il trovatore. Faria recently debuted at New Orleans Opera as Talpa and Simone in Il Trittico. He returns to Palm Beach Opera as Timur and will sing Banquo in Macbeth at Teatro alla Scala. Faria made his Seattle Opera debut as the Captain in Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas and returns to the company in 2008 as Ramfis.
