Mari Moriya will make her Seattle Opera debut as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Magic Flute, a role she has also sung at the Metropolitan Opera, Glyndebourne Opera, and in Leipzig, Pittsburgh, Portland, and Palm Beach. At Opera Ireland, she has performed Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, and Liù in Puccini’s Turandot. She has sung Adina in Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore in Tulsa and the title role in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at the International Vocal Arts Institute, Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at Philadelphia’s Center City Opera, and Susanna in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro at Connecticut Grand Opera. Her repertoire also includes Giulietta in Bellini’s Capuleti e i Montecchi, Elisetta in Cimarosa’s Matrimonio segreto, the title roles in Delibes’s Lamké and Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix, Madame Mao in John Adams’ Nixon in China, Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Konstanze in Mozart’s Entführung aus dem Serail, and Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto. A 2005 finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Moriya’s concert repertoire includes Bach’s Passions, Handel’s Messiah, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Mozart’s Mass in C minor.
