Seattle-born Mary McLaughlin joined the Seattle Opera Chorus in 1979, and she has performed in over eighty-seven productions and logged over 700 performances with the company. Solo roles at Seattle Opera have included Katchen in Massenet’s Werther, Gerhilde in Wagner’s Walküre, chamber maid in Prokofiev’s War and Peace, and Sarah in Moore’s Ballad of Baby Doe. In Richard Strauss’s operas performed here, she has sung Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos, the Overseer in Elektra, and Marianne in the 1997 premiere of Der Rosenkavalier, a role she reprised in 2006.
