Melissa Parks made her debut at Seattle Opera as Zulma in Rossini’s Italiana in Algeri and returns here for Elektra in 2008. Recent engagements include Zulma at Anchorage Opera, Marcellina in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro with Pittsburgh Opera, Dame Quickly in Verdi’s Falstaff with Dicapo Opera, and Gertrude in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with Utah Symphony and Opera. Parks has sung many Gilbert and Sullivan roles including Queen of the Fairies in Iolanthe at Nashville Opera and Cleveland Opera, Buttercup in HMS Pinafore at Syracuse Opera and Utah, and Katisha in Mikado at Utah. Her many roles with New Orleans Opera include Mary in Wagner’s Fliegende Hollander, Erda in Wagner’s Rheingold, Mistress Benston in Delibes’ Lakmé, and Mama McCourt in Douglas Moore’s Ballad of Baby Doe. Parks has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Cleveland, Opera, Dayton Opera, Fresno Grand Opera, and Michigan Opera Theater, among others.
