Bio

Mimi Jordan Sherin made her Seattle Opera debut designing lighting for the 1998 production of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. This Seattle native has also designed at numerous other U.S. opera companies, including New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Santa Fe Opera, Washington Opera, San Diego Opera, and Glimmerglass Festival. Abroad, Sherin has created lighting for productions at Bavarian State Opera, Vienna State Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Opera Australia, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Glyndebourne Festival, and Bregenz Festival; last April she made her debut at Royal Opera, Covent Garden, with lighting designs for Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. Sherin’s work with regional U.S. theaters has won her several awards (including two Obies) and includes designs for the New York Shakespeare Festival, American Conservatory Theater, American Repertory Theater, Baltimore Center Stage, Hartford Stage Company, and Long Wharf Theatre. Sherin also works frequently at the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre in London.
