Missy West makes her Seattle Opera debut with her costumes for Massenet’s Don Quichotte, originally designed for San Diego Opera. She is currently the costume supervisor at San Diego Opera, where she has worked as the design assistant for Berg’s Wozzeck in 2007, Bizet’s Pearl Fishers in 2004, and Mozart’s Magic Flute in 2001. West’s other opera credits include assistant designer for the world premiere of Thomas Pasatieri’s Frau Margot at Fort Worth Opera. She has built costumes for the Broadway productions of The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Jelly’s Last Jam, Cats, Starlight Express, and Black and Blue. Film credits for West include on-set costuming for Seabiscuit, The Legend of Bagger Vance, The Thomas Crown Affair, For the Love of the Game, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Mighty Aphrodite, and Fried Green Tomatoes. West has also worked on television commercials, and with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company.
