Peter J. Hall
The award-winning costumes of Peter J. Hall have graced the likes of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Dame Joan Sutherland, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, and Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, David Bowie and many other stars. His work has been seen on stage at Royal Opera Covent Garden, Vienna State Opera, Teatro alla Scalla, Kirov Opera, Sydney Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, and Los Angeles Opera. Hall has designed for theatre productions at The National Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company. Recent career highlights include I Puritani for the Met (these costumes will be seen at Seattle Opera in 2008), Stiffelio with Teatro Nuovo, Argentina, Simon Boccanegra at San Francisco Opera, and Otello in South Korea. As the resident costume designer for Dallas Opera, Hall has designed costumes (and, occasionally, sets) for more than 70 productions beginning with Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia in 1962 through his most recent costume designs for Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos and Handel’s Rodelinda.
