Raul Hernandez has sung Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Belles Artes, New York City Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Pacific, and Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Other roles include Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Nemorino in Donizetti’s Elisir d’Amore, Almaviva in Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia, Tebaldo in Bellini’s I Capuleti ed I Montecchi, and Alfredo in Verdi’s Traviata. In Europe, he has sung Almaviva and Orombello in Bellini’s Beatrice di Tenda with the Zurich Opera; Arturo in Bellini’s I Puritani at Teatro Comunale di Genova and Teatro Comunale di Bologna; Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at Deutsche Opera am Rhein, and Des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon at the Bolshoi Opera. Future roles include a return to Metropolitan Opera to sing the Duke of Mantua and Alfredo at the Florentine Opera as Alfredo, the Duke at Orlando Opera, and Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at Kentucky Opera. He makes his Seattle Opera debut in 2004 singing the Duke.
