Rayanne Dupuis makes her U.S. debut with Mourning Becomes Electra at Seattle Opera. A native of Ontario, Dupuis joined the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble in 1995 and has appeared in many roles with that company, including Laura in Verdi’s Luisa Miller and Echo in R. Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos. Also in Canada, she sang the First Lady in Mozart’s Zauberflöte at Edmonton Opera and the title role in Daugherty’s Jackie O at Banff Centre. Dupuis reprised the role of Jackie at Opéra de Metz in 2002, where her roles include the title role of Berg’s Lulu and Blanche in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites. Dupuis has sung frequently in France since her debut there in 1999, her performances including Poulenc’s Voix humaine in Montpellier and Besançon and Giacinta in Mozart’s Finta semplice and Marie in Gurlitt’s Soldaten at Opéra de Nantes. Other roles for Dupuis include Tatyana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, which she has sung at the Aberdeen International Festival. Dupuis’ upcoming engagements include Frau Fluth in Nicolai’s Lustigen Weiber von Windsor and Miss Jessel in Britten’s Turn of the Screw with Angers Nantes Opéra.
