Robin Guarino made her Seattle Opera debut as the stage director for Julius Caesar (she previously served as the associate stage director for the 2001 and 2005 Ring des Nibelungen in Seattle). She has served as guest director for the Metropolitan Opera since 1992 for such productions as Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Zauberflöte, Nozze di Figaro, and Don Giovanni, and Wagner’s Lohengrin. Guarino also has directed Le nozze di Figaro for Wolf Trap Opera, Rossini’s Signor Bruschino for Gotham Chamber Opera, and Cavalli’s Calisto for Juilliard Opera Theatre. Other credits include Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci for Glimmerglass Opera, and the American premiere of Sutermeister’s Schwarze Spinne for Gotham. Guarino is known for her work with such innovative companies as Eos Orchestra and the American Symphony Orchestra. She is a recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Award, the Jerome Foundation Fellowship, and the New York State Council on the Arts Fellowship.
