Sarah Castle makes her Seattle Opera debut as Cherubino in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, a role she previously performed at San Diego Opera and New Zealand Opera. Castle, a New Zealand native, has performed Tisbe in Rossini's Cenerentola and Flosshilde and Siegrune in Wagner's Ring cycle at the Royal Opera Covent Garden; and Flosshilde and Grimgerde at the Bayreuth Festival. For the New Israeli Opera she has sung Nero in Monteverdi's Coronation of Poppea, Sesto in Handel's Giulio Cesare, Marchesa Melibea in Rossini's Viaggio a Reims, and Fox in Janácek’s Cunning Little Vixen. Castle has appeared as Nicklausse in Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann at the Teatro Real Madrid; Ruggiero in Handel's Alcina, and Hänsel in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel at Opera Australia; Prince Orlofsky in Johann Strauss Jr.’s Fledermaus for Opera Company of Philadelphia; and Andronico in Handel's Tamerlano, and the Composer in Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos at the Spoleto Festival USA. Recent performances include Marco in Tan Dun's Marco Polo for Netherlands Opera, and Lola in Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana in San Diego.
