Sasha Cooke’s performances in the 2009/10 season have included Bernstein’s Jeremiah with Milwaukee Symphony, Handel’s Messiah with Seattle Symphony, Stravinsky’s Pulcinella and Berlioz’s Nuits d’Été with San Francisco Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Mahler’s Lied von der Erde with the Hong Kong Philharmonic. Cooke has sung Kitty Oppenheimer in John Adams’ Doctor Atomic at the Metropolitan Opera and for her European debut at English National Opera. Other opera credits include Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, the Composer in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, Endimione in Cavalli’s Calisto, Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther, Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, and Erika in Barber’s Vanessa. She makes her Seattle Opera debut as Meg Page, having previously sung the role as a guest artist in the Young Artists’ 2007 production. In April she will sing Medea in Cavalli’s Giasone at Chicago Opera Theater. Cooke is a graduate of Rice University, The Juilliard School, the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Development Program, and Young Concert Artists.
