Seattle Opera proudly announces a trilogy of operas created especially for our youngest opera goers and their families. Sung in English, the Our Eath trilogy explores stories of a Pacific Northwest river including marine life, freshwater ecosystems and forests. In the first opera, Heron and the Salmon Girl, the salmon fail to return to the sea one spring. Animals such as Orca, Heron, Turtle and a grumpy fisherman embark on a journey upriver to find the missing fish. This performance features the Seattle Youth Symphony and Seattle Opera soloists and Youth Chorus, conducted by Stephen Rogers Radcliffe. The program also includes Wagner's "Siegfried Idyll" and Wesendonck Lieder, sung by former Seattle Opera Young Artist Adina Aaron. Town Hall Seattle, 1119 8th Avenue Tickets: $10 Ages 5 - 18 and Seniors, $20 Adults, Free for 4 and Under
Puccini’s unmatched gift for melody adds remarkable poignancy to the simple joys and heartbreaking sorrows of a group of young Parisians in this universally popular classic – a smash hit for over a century. Charming camaraderie and sincere emotional truth make these characters among the most appealing in opera. Their surging passions and pathos, masterfully conveyed by a tune-filled romantic score, make La Bohème easy to love – and impossible to forget.
