Youth Opera Chorus

Seattle Opera’s Youth Opera Chorus provides a fun, engaging, and robust experience learning the art of collaborative singing. Weekly sessions offer each chorister the opportunity work with accomplished professionals in the field, singing in a variety of languages while developing stage, acting, and movement skills. In addition to performance opportunities, choristers will have access to behind-the-scenes tours, meeting artists, workshops, and open rehearsals. No experience required!

Scenes and Songs Camp

April 6-10, 2015 or April 13-17, 2015; 9:30am-3:30pm

In this spring break camp, boys and girls in grades 2 - 5 will spend their days off in this fantastically fun camp learning songs and scenes from different operas and musicals. We’ll stage the scenes with choreography and present them in a performance at the end of the week. There are 2 weeks to choose from! April 6-10, 2015 and April 13-17, 2014 9:30am – 3:30pm each weekday. Cost is $325 for the week. Financial assistance available.

Teen Opera Players

Teen Opera Players offers teens who are interested in vocal performance a variety of experiences with vocal coaching, stage movement, dance, and diction for singers. There are opportunities for solos, duets, and quartets to help build independent singing skills, and for those who prefer ensemble singing, there are many opportunities too! These workshops are for teens who want to expand their musical theater and operatic repertoire while sharpening their stage skills. No prior experience necessary to join in the fun!

The Magic of Mozart

Saturdays, October 4 – November 22, 2014; 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

With a focus on German diction for singers and Classical era performance practice, we will study and stage scenes from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and perform other Lieder (German art songs) from 1750 - 1820. Cost $225

Fights and Furies

February 14 – 17, 2015; 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

As storytellers, we often need to fight and die on the stage. Join us for a short 4-day workshop focusing on the precision of stage combat and the art of dying convincingly — oh, and singing at the same time, of course! Cost $225

Follies of Love and War

April 6 – 10, 2015 or April 13 – 17, 2015; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

With two different weeks to choose from, we hope one of these will coincide with your Spring Break! In this workshop, we will explore scenes from musical theater and opera, building our performance skills through diction for singers, acting, dramaturgy, and choreography. Cost $285

Teen Opera Players Studio

Teen Opera Players Studio offers a deeper performance education, at a pre-conservatory level, for the serious performer. TOP Studio includes:

  • opportunities to perform monthly
  • performance classes
  • masterclasses
  • backstage experiences
  • acting lessons
  • vocal coaching
  • diction for singers
