Opera Goes to School - Our Earth
Our popular touring program for Grades K – 8 returns in expanded form in 2012/13
Opera comes to you! Help your students explore issues of conservation and endangered species through a 40-minute opera, brought to life by professional singers in a fully-staged performance featuring vivid scenery and beautiful costumes with piano accompaniment. Schools with choral music, or an interest in developing a choral program, can participate by singing ensemble numbers in each performance. Suitable for children and adults, this program is designed particularly for the K-8th grade audience.
$400 Cost Includes:
• 1-hour school assembly performance including Q&A with performers
• Music for school choir to learn and prepare for the production
• Package of supporting educational materials
Youth Chorus preparation ($300)
You gather your singers, we’ll teach your students the music or help you do it. This option includes 3 visits to your school by a choral teaching artist to prepare your school chorus to sing, act and perform with the professional singers in your school’s performance.
Teaching Artist Visit ($150)
A 45-minute interactive introduction that ensures students in your classroom or afterschool group get the most of each performance—covering the intricacies of opera, music and character.
Teaching Artist Residency (cost varies)
Give your students the opportunity to create their own opera moments in 5, 8, or 10 visits per classroom or afterschool group. This specially-designed program includes a professional development component for using the arts to assess science, social studies and creative writing.
